Engineering Design: Project 2.4.1 - Design Project

 1)    Trent and I were given the option of making a few differnt things on aoutodesk inventor. we chose the candy machine with a sort of differnt stye that what you might not see all the time.
2)     We actually didnt start with that design brief and were going to do the car, but that didnt work out. from that we decided on the candy machine mostly because we both had some ideas on it and could put them together.
3)   step one define the problem
the problem is that we need to design a candy machine that is workable.
   step two brain storm
started from scratch and had to make differnt designs. had a few aceptable choices but one idea was      just better.
    step four criteria and constraints
we had to meet the criteria of must be durable, cant be bigger than 8" wide x4" deep x 4" high, minimunm of four differnt parts once assembled, four unique candy shapes, and cant exceed 1/2" width, depth, hight or diameter.

4)

There is a slope inside of it to help the candy move down to the bottom. There is also an opening on top so you can refill it. There is a crank at the end of it so that you can control the amount of candy coming out.

opt in 01 less is more

The New Balance 890 is using the idea of "less is more" and with the drawings of shoes in the picture I can see how that would appeal to people on the market.  What New Balance did that they are calling the future of the running shoe. They didn't take anything out to make a better shoe but actually added new components; REVlite, a new sole of foam that makes the shoe way lighter and the runner faster. Thus less is more and elegance is shown to succeed over all.

servival at sea game

the game that was given to us was to prioritize 15 items on a list that would be needed for survival. after we did that on our own we got in team and all agreed on priorty.
the items i thought were most important were the water and food. I chose this first because i thought survival right from the beginning is most important. The least important items for survival were the small transister radio and the sextant. at first it was hard to place the sextant because i didn't know what it was or how it was used so that helped the placement of close to last.
something i thought was important that my team didnt think was important is the fishing supplys. but my team persuaded me that getting rescued could be quicker with item like the miir. so we came to an agreement in food and water to stay alive then the mirror and oil. for signaling.  our group was good at really thinking about if that was them how would they servive.
it was serprizing how the experets rated the items first was the shaving mirror, oil and water. it was a suprise to see that my first two choices wernt what a coat gaurd would chosse. and the experts main goal is to get rescued as opose to stay alive right then.

visual design: elements and pricipals

1. the six visual desing elements are Line, Color, Space, Texture, Form/shape, and Value.

2. the five viual desing pricipals are balence, rythem, emphasis, proportion/scale, and utility.

3. five items

this is an example of horizontal lines and vertical lines

this color wheel is an example of color and also curved lines.

you can see the texture so you must feeel it.

this sign shows balence.

these dancers have rythem and the sculpture shows curverd linns.

content is king

A hobby of mine that I love doing is snowboarding. I share that with my brother we love that time together on mountians. Lots of snowboard companys use blogs to permote there riders and there gear. They also use blogs to show news of what new and trips that are gooing on.  i could see myself bloging about the field of snowboarding. Just to stay connected to it  and learn from it.  I think the best part of it is when people from all over talk about the same goal that everyone has, like some one will ask a question and someone else will answer it.

tennis ball game

The challenge is to get everyone on the team to touch the ball and to do it faster than the other teams.
Our team came up with the idea to get everyone to slant there hands like a slide so the ball just rolls down still meeting the criteria of everyone touching it.
That plan worked out great and we did it in a respecable time.
If doing it agian, I would do the same slide plan.
If doing it agiam, I would get evereyone to line up there hand so there are no bumps that slow the ball down if we neeeded to go faster.
The game was a fun team building experience. It was cool to hear other peoples thoughts on what to do and make the best choice.
